The Dispensary at Topcliffe Surgery is open at the following times, except on Bank Holidays
8.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.
1.30 p.m. to 6.15 p.m.
By law we are only allowed to dispense for you if you are registered at Topcliffe Surgery as either a regular or a temporary patient, and live more than a mile away from a pharmacy, as the crow flies
If you require a medication urgently please contact the Surgery. The telephone number is 01845 577297. Your request will be dealt with by the Dispensary during its opening hours, and at other times by one of the doctors at the Surgery or the GP Out-of-Hours Service managed by the North Yorkshire and York Primary Care Trust.
Prescriptions issued by the doctors during surgery consultations are usually dispensed and available within minutes of being handed in at the Dispensary. But occasionally the doctor has prescribed something special. When this happens it will be ordered from the wholesaler and is normally available within hours of the prescription being written.
Repeat medication is managed in the Dispensary in one of two ways:
Please note that in order to manage the Dispensary workload we do require a full two working days notice for all repeat medication requests.
All repeat medication prescriptions must be signed by one of the doctors before medication can be dispensed.
If you first register with us for internet booking (L) you can order repeat prescriptions on-line via:

Please note that only medications that the doctor has already authorised as a repeat medication can be ordered via the Internet. Sometimes a medication that you expect to be available as a repeat will not be listed. This may be because the doctor did not anticipate that a repeat would be required, or because it is a new medication and the doctor wants to know how you are getting on with it before authorising a repeat. In these cases please telephone the Surgery.
We aim to review all medications at least annually. For information look at our Medication Reviews page.L
You may also be asked for a Dispensing Review of Use of Medicines. One of the doctors, nurses or dispenser will go through a short questionnaire with you about your use of medicines. This will be an opportunity to indicate if you do not understand what your medication is for, if you are getting side effects, cannot read the labels or have difficulty getting the medication out of its packaging.
But if you are having any of these difficulties please do not wait for a dispenser to ask. Please speak to one of them, or one of the doctors or nurses and let them know.
