We are pleased to be able to offer well-person health checks to our patients, either to reassure or to identify health risks before they become a problem.
We have a rolling programme of invitations to see the nurse for a well-person check, concentrating on patients over the age of 40.
The check-up includes blood pressure, blood sugar to exclude diabetes, blood cholesterol and family history. As part of the health check we calculate and give you your statistical risk of developing cardiovascular disease (heart problem or stroke) in the next 10 years - and advise you what can be done to reduce the risk.
If you would like a well-person health check, you do not need to wait for an appointment or be over 40. Just ask for an appointment to see the nurse for a "well-person health check".
If you think that there may be a cancer that runs in your family, please arrange to speak to the doctor or nurse. We may be able to reassure you but if it is appropriate we can arrange for you to be advised by the Cancer Family History Genetics Service.
