Information about Swine Flu at Topcliffe Surgery

This website now has a dedicated webpage that gives the latest information about swine flu and Topcliffe Surgery. There are also links to sources of information about the illness itself.

Practice Manager

Topcliffe Surgery has a new Practice Manager. After several years in post Brian Shaw retired in April and has been succeded by Karen Reed. Karen will be known to many of our patients as she has worked in reception for the last 3 years. Prior to this Karen was Practice Manager at a large practice in Essex. We are delighted to have been able to appoint someone who has experience of both Practice Management and Topcliffe Surgery, its ethos and its patients. We wish her well.

New Faces

Although Karen is not new to Topcliffe Surgery others are. New faces are Judith Seeger in reception, Jane Pepys in the Dispensary and Alison Murray who can be encountered in either. We are pleased to welcome them to the team.

Patient Survey

The results of the latest 'Improving Practice Questionnaire' survey of our patient satisfaction is available on our Patient Survey webpage.

Gatenby

We have long welcomed families from Gatenby who chose to register with a civilian GP rather than the military Practice on site. We are also pleased to welcome other family members of RAF personnel at RAF Leeming who find that they are unable to register with the Service GP on site.

We know that this means travelling a little distance down the A1. However extra patients have not affected our ability to offer our daily walk-in surgeries which are always very popular with our patients. To achieve this we keep the doctors' consultation hours under constant review and employ other doctors for some sessions when necessary - see below.

Extended consultation hours - and more afternoon appointments

We have made changes to try to prevent long waiting times to see the doctors by extending our surgery consultation hours and by adding extra appointment surgeries. Surgeries now start at 8.10 a.m. in the mornings and at 4.00 p.m. in the afternoons.

Afternoon appointments

In addition to the existing Monday evening appointment surgery we are now able to provide appointments on most Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at the same time, 4.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. Also there is an extra appointment surgery on Friday afternoons between 3.00 p.m. and 4.00 p.m. In addition we have increased the capacity for the Friday evening walk-in surgery between 4.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. by having two doctors available whenever possible.

We are very happy for patients to continue to use the walk-in surgeries and currently provide more of these than appointment surgeries. However you may prefer to make an appointment to minimise the waiting time. We will continue to do our best to keep to time for appointments. To help them run smoothly we would ask that you do the same. Please ask for a double slot if you think that you will need more time.

Chronic Kidney Disease

We have added information to this website on the important condition Chronic Kidney Disease. Please use the link if you want to know more.

Comments box

We welcome comments on our service from patients so have provided a box on the reception counter for written comments. Please add your name to your comment so that we can get back to you if appropriate.
