We have long welcomed families from Gatenby who chose to register with a civilian GP rather than the military Practice on site. We are also pleased to welcome other family members of RAF personnel at RAF Leeming who find that they are unable to register with the Service GP on site.
We know that this means travelling a little distance down the A1. However the extra patients has not affected our ability to offer our daily walk-in surgeries which are always very popular with our patients. To achieve this we keep the doctors' consultation hours under constant review and employ other doctors for some sessions when necessary - see below.
We have made changes to try to prevent long waiting times to see the doctors by extending our surgery consultation hours and by adding extra appointment surgeries. Surgeries now start at 8.10 a.m. in the mornings and at 4.00 p.m. in the afternoons.
In addition to the existing Monday evening appointment surgery we are now able to provide appointments on most Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at the same time, 4.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. Also there is an extra appointment surgery on Friday afternoons between 3.00 p.m. and 4.00 p.m. In addition we have increased the capacity for the Friday evening walk-in surgery between 4.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. by having two doctors available whenever possible.
We are very happy for patients to continue to use the walk-in surgeries and currently provide more of these than appointment surgeries. However you may prefer to make an appointment to minimise the waiting time. We will continue to do our best to keep to time for appointments. To help them run smoothly we would ask that you do the same. Please ask for a double slot if you think that you will need more time.
We have added information to this website on the important condition Chronic Kidney Disease. Please use the link if you want to know more.
In July 2007 the Department of Health finally released the results of the national survey, conducted in January, of around two and a quarter million patients. The Survey asked patients' experience of ease of speaking to the Surgery on the telephone, ease of access to an early appointment, ease of booking an appointment well ahead or the availability of booking with a GP of choice. We have added the results of the Survey for Topcliffe Surgery, North Yorkshire and York Primary Care Trust area and the national result to the Patient Survey page of the website. We are delighted with the endorsement given to our service arrangements by those of our patients who were surveyed. Thank you.
We welcome comments on our service from patients so have provided a box on the reception counter for written comments. Please add your name to your comment so that we can get back to you if appropriate.
